From the very opening of scripture as God created home for his people and their expulsion, there has been a trajectory, a journey home.

Society, religion, philosophy and politics have all tried to chart a way home from the forced creation of perceived utopia to the denial that anything is wrong at all.

Our society, even the Church has become obsessed with the discovery of self as part of the journey 'home'.

However, maybe, just maybe we are replacing bad feeling problems with good feeling ones.

Maybe we are supposed to feel a deep dissatisfaction, driving us to a deep yearning for that which is beyond us, a new home.

This has always been the journey of the believer.

This affects every area of life, mission and community.

“All these people were still living by faith when they died. They did not receive the things promised; they only saw them and welcomed them from a distance, admitting that they were foreigners and strangers on earth. 14 People who say such things show that they are looking for a country of their own. 15 If they had been thinking of the country they had left, they would have had opportunity to return. 16 Instead, they were longing for a better country—a heavenly one. Therefore God is not ashamed to be called their God, for he has prepared a city for them.” Hebrews 11:13 - 16
